Whale's Wings Plume Agate Earrings
Whale's Wings Plume Agate Earrings
These Plume Agates cleaved in the shape of whale flippers! The Plume Agate has incredibly detailed dendrites in earth-tones such as rust, tan and black in clear to white agate. Don’t let their simplicity deceive you, these are hand carved thin so their details are well revealed and they’re very light to wear for ‘larger’ dangle earrings. Not only do they have a wonderful oceanic inspiration, but they’re also neutral so they make great daily wearers.
We found this Plume Agate in Eastern Oregon. These actually show up in our video about cleaving the rocks called ‘Lucky Breaks’ featured on our Video Page. The first stone on the video is their ‘mother stone’ and there is a shot of them in Karen’s hand (quick shot). They were hand carved and fabricated from scratch by Karen Britt. Amazingly, each earring is around 2.8 grams. It’s rare to find large stone dangles this light. The earring body is entirely Fine Silver and the earring wires are Sterling. Each piece is a one of a kind piece of art, because no two stones are the same and the settings are created by hand, no two pieces are the same (even the earrings). It should be mentioned that all stones are used in their natural state; never dyed or heated to change their appearance. All the metals used are either recycled or fair, humane trade verified and all components used in the jewelry will return to the earth leaving no footprint. Thank you for enjoying the art.
