Welcome to the Ozone and our adventures!
The Ozone is excited about our YouTube channel, Ozone Fine Art-Ventures that shares the creative content from ‘find to finish’ with you! Since we can’t see you in the gallery, come see us here! Look for everything from tutorials to rockhounding journey footage and all things ‘tools and techniques’ in between. Also, Ozone Fine Art-Ventures is pleased to announce a rockhounding podcast called The Rockhounding Podcast, with 3 other channels, that will be covering a wide variety of topics, locations, and tips for everyone voyaging out to have a great time finding rocks in nature…and what to do with them when you get home! Tune in to YouTube on Fridays at 6pm Pacific for the premiere of each episode.
Travel from Glass Butte, Oregon to the Ozone studios to create a piece of jewelry! Part 2 of the 3 part series, the Aurora Borealis cabochon that we cut and polished in part 1 becomes a GIVEAWAY jewelry piece for a lucky viewer. It’s not too late to enter, watch the video to see how and you can enter twice by watching both part 1 and 2. Good luck!
In our latest video, we make the Roots and Blood Knife handle from Oregon Red Jasper and Petrified Wood. We follow the ‘from slab to scale’ creation of each stone and illuminate the inspiration behind it.
We have a walk and find some fossils, agates, and the biggest Mystery Jasper-Agate I’ve found on the beach. Later we find out that we picked up a possible Fish Skull and Enhydro Agatized Clam Belly!
Find an interesting stone on the beach that turns out to have a fossil shell inside? Happens a fair amount around these beaches nearby and I got curious enough to find out what was inside. Be the first, along with me, to see this shell revealed from the host rock that held it around 15 million years.
Draw along with me as we paint with dry media. We’re playing with color and stroke to create contrast, texture, and learn some techniques to apply to paint. It’s a quick, fun, step by step approach to a study and even Lily gets to be involved.
Explore the art of old school printmaking with us while we pull a print from the Red Octopus print block. Bonus footage of a live red octopus and baby octopus makes this an interesting and informative video!
We love taking a break from the studio on the beach flying with our wings. Much of this video is taken first person so it’s like you are there too. Come along!
When we’re not in the studio and the wind is blowing, it’s fun to go play on the beach!
Bust some rocks open with me and my trusty sledgehammer to see the pretties inside. The ‘rough’ of the recent RockFish carving is seen coming out of the ‘Mother Stone’ and below in the thumbnail.
Go to the beach with Lily and find some super cool Oregon Coast treasures.
Peer into the stones, sort out the good ones, and watch as we polish them into gemstones.
Here’s the follow up video to Oregon Sunstone Carving I. In the first video, we cover finding and carving the Sunstone. In this video I plan the setting and see it through to the finished piece.
From out in Eastern Oregon to the Ozone studio, view start-to-finish the finding and carving of an Oregon Sunstone!
Check out some of our fishy friends that have become favorite subjects in the art. Watch the subjects become Gyotaku fish prints, woodblock prints, and an oil painting before your eyes.
Our first video! We captured a few scenes of Yaquina Head and other beaches in between raindrops and waves. Have a look at the big swell and some of the odd things it brings to the beach!
