Obsidian Sheen and Agate Plume
Obsidian Sheen and Agate Plume
These two stones knew that they needed to be with each other. An Obsidian with a grey-mauve sheen into an hombre of deep grey pairs so well with a blue tint, clear Graveyard Plume Agate with white clouds and black dendrites. Subtle color in so many shades of grey is poised perfectly in Fine and Sterling Silver setting featuring a hinge style connection between the stones.
The Obsidian is from Central Oregon and contains sheen created by Magnetite and/or from bubbles of gas during the stone’s birth. The Plume Agate is from Eastern Oregon and both were created in Karen Britt’s Lapidary studio. Fine Silver holds the stones while the Sterling Silver body leaves much of the back ‘open’ so the light may play all the way through the stones. The entire pendant is approx. 2” long and can be worn with any of your favorite chains while it is hung for immediate wearing from a 18”, 3.5mm Greek Leather Cord with Sterling Silver hook and loop clasp.
This piece was fabricated from scratch by Karen Britt. Each piece is a one of a kind piece of art, because no two stones are the same and the settings are created by hand, no two pieces are the same (even the earrings). It should be mentioned that all stones are used in their natural state; never dyed or heated to change their appearance. All the metals used are either recycled or fair, humane trade verified and all components used in the jewelry will return to the earth leaving no footprint. Thank you for enjoying the art.
