Seahorses in the Coral (SCBB04)
Seahorses in the Coral (SCBB04)
Gaze into a reef and you’ll see an incredible community that lives amid the corals like jewels. This print is woodcut meets electric painting in and excitingly unique way. Subtlety is dance of ‘wabi-sabi’ composition with the Seahorses hidden among the intricate branching coral shapes like Bonsai Trees of the sea.
Among the most impressive reef inhabitants, seahorses stretch nature’s imagination from miniature, delicate figures to large Leafy Sea Dragons. The coral reef in this print was generated from electricity, or Lichtenberg fractals, burned into the wood by Robert West. The seahorses were hand carved afterwards by Karen Britt to complete this interesting underwater scene.
To achieve the color blend, every color is hand applied, all at once, like a painting. 100% cotton rag paper is then hand pressed (without a printing press) to create a unique print each time. To see the process, check out our Pacific Octopus Video. No two are ever alike and every time the block is rubbed, the grains change slightly. The piece measures approx. 10” x 7.5” with the actual printed image measuring roughly 7”x 5.5”. Every print comes with an info sheet about the subject and print. This print comes to you ready to mat and frame in a way of your choosing. Contact us if you wish for this print to be panel mounted and sealed (ready to hang on the wall).
