Spiral Fossil Shell with Blushing Sunstone
This is the actual ‘sand cast’ inner spiral of a Miocene Era Fossil found on the Central Oregon Coast in Sterling Silver. Its graceful flowing lines embellished by a faceted Oregon Sunstone with light schiller inclusions causing it it catch a lovely rose’ blushing tone in addition to it’s sparkling champagne body color.
The Fossil Shell was found on the Central Oregon Coast by Karen Britt and prepared to reveal the inner structure of the ‘Calicantharis carlsoni’ shell. We then made a sand casting with the original fossil shell to create the sterling silver version of it for you. Each casting will be different, even if the same fossil shell is used because of the sand casting process. Every piece is a one of a kind homage to the ancient sea creature and the captivating ancient world it inhabited.

Each casting is hand polished, and in this case, the Oregon Sunstone is added. The approximately 5mm sunstone was mined and faceted by Karen, then tube set into the jewelry piece in fine silver. This particular sunstone boasts tiny strands of copper platelets, called schiller, that catch the light from certain directions, throwing a wonderful blushing peach hue.
The pendant is hung on an 18 in leather cord, that will go with everything in your closet, held together with a sterling silver hook and loop closure. The jewelry is ready to wear and the pendant is also abundantly wearable on your favorite chains as well with an over 4mm bail. The pendant itself is 38mm long or about 1.5 inches for a lovely, sparkling statement.
