Opal and Silver Fossil Shark Tooth

Opal and Silver Fossil Shark Tooth

$95.00

This piece reunites an ancient shark and ancient water in an elegant way. The free form Ethiopian Opal flashes with the entire rainbow of colors one would have found in the prehistoric coral reefs the shark may have inhabited. The Sand Tiger Shark fossil tooth was cast in sterling silver to commemorate the fascinating creature and to cradle the Opal perfectly (pendant only, chain available).

This lovely pendant embraces the concept of ‘ancient shark swimming in ancient waters’. The fossil shark tooth is sand cast from a Sand Tiger Shark fossil that swam in the ancient Florida seas 10 to 20 million years ago. Sand casting is a fantastic way of preserving this unique find and honoring it with reclaimed silver that is between 925 and 999 purity. The Ethiopian Opal’s beautiful rainbows of color were not born yesterday either; it is a mineraloid with a high water content and dazzling silicate display, that took plenty of time to set.
