Sunstone and the Coral Reef
Sunstone and the Coral Reef
Summer wins with memories of the beach and sunshine within this bright piece. The Sunstone is hand carved with flashes of brilliant schiller like a ray of light onto the reef. A Graveyard Point Plume Agate flamboyantly displays an array like Coral on a healthy reef with clear agate ‘water’ in the background. Among the precious reef we find a blush pearl prize finishing the composition and dreams of seaside days to come.
The Sunstone is a hand carved, Blush Pink, 2 carat, approx. 16mm x 4mm gem from our latest trip to the Spectrum Sunstone Mine . The button blush pearl is roughly 6mm and is from old stock purchased 25-30+ years ago . The plume agate is from Graveyard Point, Oregon and is left backless along with the Sunstone to let the sun shine through. The ensemble is set in Fine Silver with a Sterling Silver hoop and bail as well as hook and loop closure on the 3.5mm, approx. 18” Greek leather cord. The pendant hangs from bail to bottom approx. 42mm or 1.6 inches. These stones were sourced in Oregon, hand polished, and the setting fabricated from scratch by Karen Britt. Each piece is a one of a kind piece of art, because no two stones are the same and the settings are created by hand, no two pieces are the same (even the earrings). It should be mentioned that all stones are used in their natural state; never dyed or heated to change their appearance. All the metals used are either recycled or fair, humane trade verified and all components used in the jewelry will return to the earth leaving no footprint. Thank you for enjoying the art.
