Pearl, Sunstone, and Blue Agate
Pearl, Sunstone, and Blue Agate
The moon, the sun glistening in the shallow waters, and the deep blue sea. The moon is played by a silver-blue baroque pearl and hangs above the scene. The Sunstone contains both black inclusions and also silver-blue schiller that is reminiscent of sunbeams seen within the ocean. The bottom stone is a blue Thunder Egg Agate that is both clear and also deep with color like the depths of the sea. Fine Silver bezels and Sterling Silver prongs and body hold this contemporary ocean-scape to your neck.
The Champagne Sunstone is gently faceted then hand carved to nest the other two stones. It is a 2 carat, approx. 10.5mm x 9mm gem from our latest trip to the Spectrum Sunstone Mine . The baroque silver-blue pearl is roughly 6mm and is from old stock purchased 25-30+ years ago . The blue agate is from a Priday Bed Thunder Egg mined at Richardson’s Rock Ranch, Oregon. Both the Sunstone and Agate are left backless to let the sun shine through. When doing so with the Sunstone, one can see the tiny black mineral inclusions and the silver-blue schiller when held at the right plane to the sun. The ensemble is set in Fine Silver and Sterling Silver with a Sterling Silver hoop and bail as well as hook and loop closure on the 1.5mm, approx. 18” Greek leather cord. The pendant hangs from bail to bottom approx. 39mm or 1.5 inches. These stones were sourced in Oregon, hand polished, and the setting fabricated from scratch by Karen Britt. Each piece is a one of a kind piece of art, because no two stones are the same and the settings are created by hand, no two pieces are the same (even the earrings). It should be mentioned that all stones are used in their natural state; never dyed or heated to change their appearance. All the metals used are either recycled or fair, humane trade verified and all components used in the jewelry will return to the earth leaving no footprint. Thank you for enjoying the art.
