Moss Agate and Thunder Dangles
Moss Agate and Thunder Dangles
Moss Agate is gorgeous and isn’t limited to only green. In fact, this agate is filled with colorful dendrites of yellow ochre, through green tones, to orange and red. The detail is intense as the tight tendrils weave their way through clear agate. They were hand carved to hang and catch the light showing off their unique appeal. Holding them from above are a pair of light Thunder Egg Agates contrasting the colorful depth of the Moss Agates.
We found this multi-color Moss Agate in Central Oregon and each stone is about 16mm and unique. They were hand carved and fabricated from scratch by Karen Britt and are hung without setting so stones can glow with all available light. The Thunder Egg Agates are 5mm, hand polished, and are from Central Oregon, Richardson’s Ranch.
Top to bottom, the earring is about 31mm. The body is entirely Fine Silver and the earring loops and posts are Sterling Silver. The posts come with ‘comfort back’, barrel style holders. Each earring weighs in around 2.1 grams which is fantastically light and comfortable for stone dangle earrings. For reference, a penny weighs about 2.5 grams. Each piece is a one of a kind piece of art, because no two stones are the same and the settings are created by hand, no two pieces are the same (even the earrings). It should be mentioned that all stones are used in their natural state; never dyed or heated to change their appearance. All the metals used are either recycled or fair, humane trade verified and all components used in the jewelry will return to the earth leaving no footprint. Thank you for enjoying the art.
