Angel, Amethyst, and Holley Blue Agate
Angel, Amethyst, and Holley Blue Agate
I couldn’t sleep so I started building this one in my mind. An Angel Wing Plume Agate, Holley Blue Agate, and Amethyst kept dancing through different designs. Running on Yaquina Head, the piece solidified so I rushed down to the gallery to realize it. The stones are set in Fine Silver, layered and carved to create texture and undulations. The rhythms in the geometry reflect the perfect geometry these stones have inside and their hues compliment each other in clear, white, lavender, and deep purple.
The Holley Blue Agate and deep purple Amethyst are ‘Friend-stones’ that I polished but did not find. The color is saturated in hues of purple with varying striations of inclusions creating lighter veins and rainbow flash. The Angel Wing Plume Agate is from Graveyard Point, Oregon, and is left open backed as well as the Holley Blue. The base is hand carved Fine Silver and the bail, loop and closure findings are Sterling Silver. This is all hung on an 18” fair trade, 3.5mm Greek Leather Black Cord, so its ready to wear or give, though you are welcome to pair this with your favorite chain as well. These stones were sourced in Oregon, hand polished, and the setting fabricated from scratch by Karen Britt. Each piece is a one of a kind piece of art, because no two stones are the same and the settings are created by hand, no two pieces are the same (even the earrings). It should be mentioned that all stones are used in their natural state; never dyed or heated to change their appearance. All the metals used are either recycled or fair, humane trade verified and all components used in the jewelry will return to the earth leaving no footprint. Thank you for enjoying the art.
