Karen's Red Octopus (RBO1)
Karen's Red Octopus (RBO1)
Do not purchase if you are not Karen! This Red Octopus is the star of our latest video, as in this is the very print shown being born off the print block in the video. The Octopus is visually so interesting and appealing for the rhythm and texture of the legs and suckers. This particular octopus posed for the picture that inspired the hand cut cherry wood block. The print is hand colored and pulled so every one is unique.
The print is 6” x 5.75” on 100% cotton rag paper. It is signed within the woodcut with a ‘chop style’ carving of KB initials for Karen Britt. The print will come accompanied by an information card bearing this information; “Red Octopus: A graceful and talented eight leged creature that inhabits the Pacific waters. Known to solve puzzles, play with toys, and even create art, the resident Red Octopus is a popular headliner at the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport, Oregon. This particular photogenic individual posed for some great pictures from which this woodblock print was cut. Each time Opal the Octopus is printed, every color is hand applied, all at once, like a painting. 100% cotton rag paper is then hand pressed (without a printing press) to create a unique print each time. No two are ever alike and every time the block is rubbed, the grains change slightly. Enjoy this one of a kind piece of art made by Karen Britt and inspired by the Pacific Northwest.“
Each print is shipped ready for you to mat and frame in whatever creative way that suits you. If you are interested in a mounted print or suggestions, Contact Us as we’d be happy to help.
