Wood, Moss, and Pearl
This triad is a composition of some of nature’s most incredible creations. Oregon native Moss Agate and Petrified Wood convey two different ways how growth can be captured in stone. The Moss Agate is crystalline mineral growth in a bath of silicates that solidifies and the Petrified Wood was once alive then preserved by, in this case, green Common Opal. A Keshi pearl hangs as a reminder of our magnificent ocean and the happy incidence of an irritation becoming a beautiful solution. A Sterling Silver, hammered circle keeps this cycle of the trees and the seas together with a hand made, hammered, Sterling Silver chain from which to hang.
The settings for the stones are all Fine Silver whereas the circle is hammered Sterling Silver. The approx. 18” chain is made from scratch in Sterling Silver by Karen Britt and has hammered links. The length is adjustable by selecting different chain links for the Sterling Silver hook and loop clasp. The stones were sourced in Oregon (except the Pearl which is old Stock from about 25-30 years ago), hand polished, and the setting fabricated from scratch by Karen Britt. Each piece is a one of a kind piece of art, because no two stones are the same and the settings are created by hand, no two pieces are the same (even the earrings). It should be mentioned that all stones are used in their natural state; never dyed or heated to change their appearance. All the metals used are either recycled or fair, humane trade verified and all components used in the jewelry will return to the earth leaving no footprint. Thank you for enjoying the art.
