At first glance, these are neutral, delicately detailed Plume Agates. Upon closer observation, their complexity is apparent. Dendrites (or tree-like mineral growths) pepper clear and tonally blue agate in black, gold, and shades of brown. It’s like viewing a forest canopy enveloped in fog. Along side, Angel Wing Plume Agates continue the sky theme. Set and embellished with Fine and Sterling Silver, a stylized wing design fly these plumes from your ears.
We found this Plume Agate in Eastern Oregon. Each stone is about 18mm and unique; one has light variations and dendrites while the other has more contrasting plumes and colors. They were hand carved and fabricated from scratch by Karen Britt. The White and clear Angel Wing Plume Agates are 5mm. Each earring is around 2.3 grams which is light for stone dangles. The earrings are left open backed so the light may shine through and show off the patterns in the stones.
The body is entirely Fine Silver and the earring wires are Sterling. Each piece is a one of a kind piece of art, because no two stones are the same and the settings are created by hand, no two pieces are the same (even the earrings). It should be mentioned that all stones are used in their natural state; never dyed or heated to change their appearance. All the metals used are either recycled or fair, humane trade verified and all components used in the jewelry will return to the earth leaving no footprint. Thank you for enjoying the art.
