Amethyst with Druzy Thunder
In a brilliant flash of excitement, a Priday Thunder Egg from Central Oregon burst open with the flashiest Quartz Crystal Druzy. Blue tinted Agate formed around amber colored reed-like minerals before the quartz crystals grew like sugar on top. These are view-able through the open back setting as well as the varying hues of the Washington Amethyst. I hardly ever use other folks found stones but this ‘friend-stone’ has been so pretty to work with (and is so purple!). Hand sculpted Fine and Sterling Silver flow like the terrain to make the rest of this unique setting.
The Thunder Egg and Amethyst are left open backed in their Fine Silver and setting to let the light shine through. The base is Fine and Sterling silver layered and then hand carved. The bail loops are Sterling Silver as well as the hook and loop closure on the 1.5mm Greek leather cord (roughly 18”). These stones were sourced in Oregon (except for the Washington Amethyst), hand polished, and the setting fabricated from scratch by Karen Britt. Each piece is a one of a kind piece of art, because no two stones are the same and the settings are created by hand, no two pieces are the same (even the earrings). It should be mentioned that all stones are used in their natural state; never dyed or heated to change their appearance. All the metals used are either recycled or fair, humane trade verified and all components used in the jewelry will return to the earth leaving no footprint. Thank you for enjoying the art.
