This Australian Boulder Opal was sent from Queensland, in the rough directly to Karen, then hand cut and polished into the free form cabochon. The solid gem measures 19mm x 9mm with a high dome finish. Because the Ironstone matrix is at the apex of the stone, the opal will be more resilient to wear of a bracelet stone. The ‘patinated’ (permanently made dark with liver of sulfur) bezel and body of the setting is fine silver, while the connection to the band is sterling silver (for strength). The hook and loop closure is on one side of the Sterling span so the patinated sterling silver bracelet continues all the way around the wrist uninterrupted. The bracelet measures about 6 inches in length and is approximately 3mm wide in gauge. The body of the setting adds another inch and a quarter to the bracelet for an over all length of 7 1/4”. This would be considered a medium sized bracelet with a loose, soft bangle (banglet) style fit.

This piece was fabricated from scratch by Karen Britt. Each piece is a one of a kind piece of art, because no two stones are the same and the settings are created by hand, no two pieces are the same (even the earrings). It should be mentioned that all stones are used in their natural state; never dyed or heated to change their appearance. All the metals used are either recycled or fair, humane trade verified and all components used in the jewelry will return to the earth leaving no footprint. Thank you for enjoying the art.
