Just Metal

abracelet.jpg

So, sometimes it is about the metal. I learned from both my grandfather and my mom about manipulating, soldering, and fabricating things with these incredible elements. There is something magical about melting metal and building the shapes it wants to be. This piece was inspired by the precious cuts from the sheet metal making jewelry. Abstract cast aways in rational metal circles. A full circle...for your wrist.

Carnelian Dreams

carnelianbetterunfinished.jpg

The fire of its inception is caught in its color. Through the stones swirl 'inclusions' that reflect light so they glow like the lava flow that bore them. These carnelians are 'true agate' as the rings of formation are apparent. The both display an hombre blend from yellow to red because of this. The agate 'rind' is left on the backside of these hand polished stones as a reminder of their birth. The lower stone has been set in copper and silver, the upper stone awaits the perfect moment of capture.

2016-04-27- Variations on a Theme

Variationscrop.jpg

For some reason I always love wearing chokers during the summer. Maybe it's the necklines, maybe it's that we're more active so we want jewelry that isn't dangling too much. I also notice that if my choker is too high, it leaves my chest rather bare. So to kill a couple of birds with one stone, I cooked up a choker that drops down to the length of a regular pendant. WIN! I've been playing with various lengths of drop and different stones, come in and see the variations on the theme.
